The 100 Black Men of Metropolitan New Orleans will conduct voter registration drives at Xavier and Dillard Universities Saturday, September 15 from 1 pm to 4 pm, the organization announced today.

The 100 Black Men is urging citizens to check their voting status as many voters “may have been
purged from the rolls if they have not voted regularly since the 2008 election,” the organization said in a statement sent out to the media, and notes that those voters who have been purged need to re-register.

The registrations drives will be held at Xavier University’s Student Center and Dillard University’s Kearny Hall.

100 Black Men of Metropolitan New Orleans is a chapter of The 100 Black Men of America, Inc., a national origination that was founded in 1963 and has more than 10,000 members worldwide with 115 chapters. The local chapter has been active in the community for 20 years and operates a variety of programs which include sponsoring an annual AAU accredited Youth Track Meet; mentoring boys and young men at local public schools; Collegiate 100 chapters; and Bring a Mentee to Work Day.
