NAFC returns to New Orleans to help the uninsured

The (NAFC) will return to New Orleans once again to provide medical services for uninsured residents on July 3rd, at the Morial Convention Center. Patients can call (800) 340-1301 to register for the clinic, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This will be the fourth event held in the city.

All patients will receive preventive primary medical care and be connected to the area’s safety-net providers bad credit loans with long term payments and additional resources. The clinic will serve uninsured residents only. Those who have benefits from Medicaid, Medicare or Veterans Affairs are not eligible.

“The NAFC will be returning to New Orleans because of the great need in the area. According to the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, 23 percent of non-elderly individuals are uninsured in the state of Louisiana,” says NAFC Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux. “There is a great lack of access in a city that is still rebuilding and recovering from the devastation of Katrina. These clinics are held to highlight the need that still exists throughout the country even as the Affordable Care Act is being implemented and as many states, such as cash loans in palm springs ca Louisiana make decisions on whether or not to expand their Medicaid programs.”

The clinic offers many primary care medical services to meet uninsured patient needs more than a simple screening. The New Orleans C.A.R.E. Clinic will provide a wide variety of free medical services. Each patient will see a medical professional for an initial examination and based on the medical evaluation observed by the medical professional, the patient may receive the following services at the clinic such as EKGs, cholesterol blood tests, glucose tests for diabetes, mammogram information and referrals, urinalysis, hemoglobin tests, kidney disease testing, pregnancy tests, and much more.

The (NAFC) is the only nonprofit 501© (3) organization whose mission is solely focused on the issues and needs of the more than 1,200 Free and Charitable Clinics and the people they serve in the United States. Similar clinics have been held in Houston, Little Rock, Kansas City, Hartford, Atlanta, Washington DC, Charlotte, Tacoma and Dallas serving in total more than 15,000 uninsured people.

NAFC Executive Director Nicole Lamoureux is also calling on locals to work as volunteers to service those in need.

“Helping fellow citizens is a good way for volunteers to show their American spirit on the day before Independence Day,” Nicole Lamoureux said. “New Orleans area citizens, as well as those from throughout the nation, have demonstrated their caring for others by turning out in the hundreds to volunteer at our three previous clinics in the city, and we hope to have a similar turnout this year.”

Volunteer shifts are open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the day of the event, and help is also needed to set up the clinic on July 2nd. Lamoureaux states that medial as well as non-medical staffers are welcome.
