Richard Boseman, personal loans saginaw mi a community steward and activist, died on February 7. He was 76. The sixth child born to Devance Sr. (of Belle Alliance, La.) and Lettie Lewis-Jones (of Point Pleasant, La.), Mr. Boseman was born on June 2, 1937 at Charity Hospital
He received his early elementary education from McDonogh #36 and Hoffman schools and then attended Booker T. Washington High School. After graduating from high school, Richard volunteered for military service with the United States Army from June 27, 1954 to July 22, 1957. He was stationed in Germany for most of his military duty.
After returning home from active duty, Richard enrolled in college at Xavier University of Louisiana where he studied Sociology and History, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. While in the army, he enrolled in many courses and after completing his studies at Xavier, he took continuing education classes at night at Loyola cash advance 71109 University in various subjects.
In 1962, he married Noyna Nicholas. From this union three sons, Richard, Renard, and Randall were born.
His career included working for The Youth Study Center, Total Community Action (TCA), the city Welfare Department, The Federation of Churches, NOPSI-Entergy and Xavier University.
His political and civic involvement beginning with the administration of Moon Landrieu to the present Mitch Landrieu, had him serving on many advisory boards and commissions. He was a past president of the 9th ward Voters’ League. Richard was also a 33rd degree Mason, an active member and past Worshipful Master of Phoenix #226 and also a member of the Consistory and Platta Temple no. 15.
He was also a past president of Bright Pre-School for the Deaf (later becoming a board member) and president of McMain Magnet Secondary School. He served as president of Booker can you get a rv loan with bad credit T. Washington’s Alumni and local and national President of Xavier University’s Alumni. And he was petitioned by President Norman Francis of Xavier to head up Xavier’s first formal Alumni Relations Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Devance, Sr.; his mother, Lettie; three sisters, Tessie, Etta and Leona; and two brothers, Devance Jr. and Emanuel.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Noyna of 51 years; his sons, Richard (Karen), Renard (Charita), and Randall; devoted daughter-in-law Charisse; seven devoted grandchildren, Gerard, Randi, Christopher, Kimberly, Kristi, Kendra and Rachel; Jamel and Jasmine; two sisters, Iona and Louvenia; a brother, Raymond(Sybil); and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a multitude of virtual grandchildren, many friends and associates.
Services were held Saturday, February 15 at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
