B.R. cop who patrolled SU resigns after racist texts about ‘Monkey N*ggers’

A Baton Rouge police officer resigned after online payday loans no references reportedly sending racist texts that referred to Blacks in Ferguson, Mo., as “Monkey N*ggers,” NewsOne reported on September 5.

Michael Elsbury, a 15-year Baton Rouge Police Department veteran, resigned on September 4 after racist text messages he sent to a friend became public, Raw Story reported.

BRPD Police Chief Carl Dabadie told reporters that he first caught wind of the texts on September 2 and launched an investigation adding that Elsbury resigned before the investigation was completed.

Elsbury, who patrolled historically Black Southern University-BR, texted that Blacks are “nothing but a bunch of monkeys,” and that the “only reason SF 94115 cash advance they have this job is the ni**er, ni**er in them.”

Another text reportedly reads: “I wish someone would pull a Ferguson on them and take them out. I hate looking at those African monkeys at work…I enjoy arresting those thugs with their saggy pants.”

The female friend who was sent the texts turned over her phone to authorities on September 3, a day after the police chief was informed about the texts and the day before Elsbury resigned.

“At that point, we couldn’t prove within a shadow of a doubt that he sent those texts, but you can draw your do short term loans improve credit rating own conclusions,” Chief Dabadie told The Advocate. “I can only conclude that he thought it was in his best interest to resign.”

Dabadie said the BRPD never asked Elsbury to resign and that he had not spoken with the former officer.

“It was gut-wrenching to believe that someone had that much hate in them, especially a police officer who is out there enforcing the law every day. It made me sick to my stomach,” Chief Dabadie said.

“I believe this is an isolated incident that occurred between the officer and this girl,” Dabadie said. “I do not want this to cash to existing loan term become a direct reflection on our officers. I have 650 officers, and 649 of them work their butts off every day for the city of Baton Rouge.”

On September 6, Louisiana State NAACP Conference Presi­dent Earnest Johnson said that “the story doesn’t end with the police resigning.”

Johnson said the NAACP wants to know how former Officer Michael Elsbury’s views may have influenced his interaction with Blacks as he carried out his sworn duties as a law enforcement officer and how many other Baton Rouge police officers might have known about the former officer’s views about Black people.

“I don’t where can i apply for a payday loan want this to end with him resigning,” Johnson said. “I think there’s more to it than that.”

To that end, Johnson demanded a thorough investigation of former BRPD Officer Michael Elsbury’s interactions with Southern Univ­ersity students and other Black Baton Rouge residents.

While in Baton Rouge recently, the Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the National Action Network, told reporters that the text messages were “beyond frightening.”

“One or two (bad cops) can make the difference between our kids spending an inordinate amount of time in jail,” Sharpton said.
