Hilary Clinton has been quoted as saying that one should never waste a good crisis. That type of thinking may be the reason for what happened before, during and after the events of September 11, 2001. There’s a lot we don’t know, but what we do know should bother us and spur us to action.

First, we know that the attacks could have been prevented. U.S. intelligence agencies had a tremendous amount of specific information that could have been used to intercept the people allegedly responsible for it.

Second, we know that there was a lot of suspicious activity during and after the attacks. There are many unanswered questions about what really happened that day to the towers and to the Pentagon that day. Congress spent $52 million trying to prove that cost of short term loans Bill Clinton “got busy” with Monica Lewinsky. Most of the same conservative folks only spent $15 million investigating the attacks of 911. The committee, to this day, says the probe was incomplete because they were not given everything they needed to do the job well. We do know that 911 saved the Bush presidency. Fear and outrage boosted his sub-gutter approval rating over-night and practically assured him of re-election, which would not have been likely otherwise.

Third, we know that the attacks of 911 were somehow used to justify sending troops into two different nations that have never attacked the U.S. (partly because they lack the capacity). Libya would make three. Some day they will refer to these as the “Oil Wars.” They may be following orders, but no soldier is over there fighting for “our freedom.” The greatest threat 75214 cash advance to the freedom and survival of ordinary people in the USA is much closer to home…and we support it with our tax dollars. We know that over one million Iraqis have died, along with more than 6,000 U.S. troops. Over 50,000 of our children have been wounded fighting a war with no clear objective and no end in sight. The only folks benefiting are those who make weapons and caskets.

No one says it better than Major General Smedley Butler, USMC in his classic 1933 speech “War is Just a Racket.” Butler, a 33-year veteran, said, “War is just a racket. A racket is…something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at payday loans fort lauderdale florida the expense of the masses…the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.”

Beyond all the “patriotic” hype lies the ugly truth that thousands of our young are being maimed and killed to fatten someone’s pockets and perpetuate a star-spangled lie.

Speaking of lies, the fourth thing we know is that the U.S. government continues to sell a lie about the motives for the attacks. Anyone who still says that “they hate us for our freedom” or “they hate us for our lifestyle” is missing one of two things: information or integrity. It is unconscionable for anyone to continue to claim that the attacks were unprovoked when we know that the U.S. has been meddling and causing millions of deaths in the Middle East for over 70 years. It is no secret that this government has given payday loans fenton money, weapons and training to murderous tyrants when it suits the purposes of rich corporations. Sixty percent of every tax dollar goes to the military, not to defend this country but to manipulate other nations and create new enemies.

The masses should be as outraged at the greedy politicians and corporations who started this mess as they are at terrorists. Their own selfishness has made life more dangerous for us all. The entire Middle East is littered with bombs and bullets bearing the seal or symbol of the USA. What the U.S. has done there is no different that what it has done in South America, Asia, or Afrika. It’s a pattern that must be stopped by the people.

Fifth, we know that terror, terrorism and the terrorist absolutely won. When one set of attacks personal loan from self directed ira can change the culture and operating principles of a nation, whoever did the attack has won. Oh, yes there are more “security measures” in place than ever before but the entire pretext of the U.S. has changed. People are willing to relinquish all of their civil liberties in the name of safety. “Give me liberty or give me death?” Not this nation! Fear is the tool that those in power have used to create a subtle police state that becomes more obvious each day. So what should happen? How should we respond to 911?

Let’s discuss that next week.

Until then remember the one thing that powerful, wicked rulers fear is…

…The Hard Truth!
