Make a difference in the Louisiana state budget

21st June 2016   ·   0 Comments

It is imperative that the legislature finds a solution to the damages Jindal left behind.

Legislators have been working non-stop in session after session. We have been bombarded with phone calls, emails, and messages from corporations and out of state lobbyists, but in order to recover from this disaster, to bring back OUR great state, legislators must hear from YOU, the voters!

Gov. Edwards has a plan to fix the budget and fully fund the TOPS Scholarship Program, healthcare system, K-12 schools, and higher education institutions. Unfortunately, there are still legislators proving difficult to sway, thus putting the aforementioned programs at risk.

The House Committee on Ways and Means met June 15, 2016, to discuss House Bill 38 by Rep. Malinda White, a very important piece of the solution we have been looking for. HB38 is an attempt to save Louisiana over $100 million by eliminating “Excess Federal Itemized Deductions”.

There are only 6 days left of session and we all need to push through to the end. We need to work hard to get the word out to all of Louisiana’s voters. I have received calls from some of my constituents, but I know that we can do better! Call your state legislators. Tell them clearly that they need to work with Gov. Edwards and save our great state.
