Tyrannosaurus Trump

When it comes to arrogance, ignorance, self-absorption, petulance, crudity. mean-spiritedness, cultural insularity, racial insensitivity and poor social skills, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump may have no equal in modern history.

We may have to go all the way back to the so-called Dark Ages or Middle Ages to find someone whose cavalier attitude about social graces, proper etiquette or basic human rights might shock the Trumpster.

As Mr. Mouth Almighty continued to reel from the fallout over racy, sexist comments he made about grabbing women’s body parts, he was hit hard last week with another sex scandal, this one coming from a growing list of women who allege that the self-described billionaire committed sexual assault. Trump, of course, did what he always does — he resorted to name-calling and rapid-fire deflection, calling his female accusers “horrible, horrible liars” and blaming the whole ordeal on his Democratic presidential opponent Hillary Clinton and the mean old media.

What is amazing is that there are so many people across the country who are willing to overlook Trump’s lies, half-truths and over exaggeration of the truth and his glaring ineptitude and lack of knowledge about how the federal government theoretically works.

That’s something that most of us learned in grade school but I suspect young Donald and his best buddy were too busy in grade school eating oranges with the peel still on them to intimidate their athletic opponents from other schools to really give U.S. civics or social studies the time of day.

Now the entire nation and the rest of the global community are stuck with this hot-headed tyrant who has never demonstrated the kind of temperament or self-control that should be required of anyone from any political party with access to nuclear weapons.

It’s a weary, hot mess, one that hopefully will be brought to an end on election day next month. Those who think conditions couldn’t possibly get worse in communities of color, in Corporate America, in the judicial system, in the international community or with regard to racial relations better think again and do the right thing on Nov. 8.

I’m just saying’.

By the way, I got a couple of questions for y’all. Here we go:

• How many people across the country who believe every disparaging word Bill Cosby’s many female accusers said about him are completely dismissing the latest accusations of sexual assault against Donald Trump?

• Why are all of the people who are up in arms about accusations about Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni completely silent about the indiscretions and checkered past of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump?

• What will the Republican Party be like after the Trump presidential campaign has run its complete course?

• Who in their right mind is buying what U.S. Senate candidate John Kennedy is selling?

• Who would have ever thought that there would have to be a new category added to the already-long list of racial-profiling scenarios called Trying to Practice Medicine to Save a Dying Man’s Life on An Airplane while Black after an airline crew prevented a Black female doctor from Houston from doing exactly that?

• What makes the state of Louisiana think it can get away with refusing to issue marriage licenses to some immigrants who reside in the state?

• Why haven’t the people of New Orleans heard a peep out of the mouth of the always-chatty Mayor Mitch Landrieu about the resumption of the wrongful-death civil lawsuit filed in federal court by the family of Henry Glover?

• Why should Black and Brown people have to be subjected to abuse, disrespect, harassment and assault at the hands of the Louisiana State Police under the guise of improving public safety in New Orleans?

• Isn’t the best and smartest thing law enforcement officers who are afraid about being targeted for violence by Black and Brown people can do is end the growing number of murders of unarmed and/or innocent Black and Brown men, women and children?

• Do Blue Lives Matter more than Blue Walls of Silence?

• Why aren’t police recruits told, “If you see something, say something”?

• Why would anyone think that law enforcement officers would be immune to the kinds of racial stereotypes and messages from mainstream media outlets that vilify, criminalize and marginalize Black and Brown people?

• Just in case you need it, doesn’t the film The Purge: Election Year give you all the motivation you need to go out and vote on November 8?
