With spirited debate about the la cash advance in anaheim president’s jobs bill, the ongoing occupation of Wall Street and cities like Los Angeles and New Orleans and discourse about everything from free speech to crime and the death penalty, there is an electricity in the air this fall as this nation, city and state grapple with a host of issues that will either begin to change things for the better or push the nation, state and city further on the downward spiral that threatens to bring more chaos and conflict.
Here are some of the questions flowing from the lips of people who are concerned about a number of issues of critical importance to many of us:
• Now that Texas Gov. Rick Perry has been exposed as someone who saw nothing wrong with hunting for a very long time at a camp called “Niggerhead,” do you think Louisiana Gov. Piyush Jindal has had any second thoughts about endorsing Perry in the GOP presidential race?
• Will Gov. Perry lose more votes than he gains as a result of the “Niggerhead” scandal?
• Who thinks former Vice President Dick Cheney would have a problem with hunting at a place called “Niggerhead”?
• How does Sen. David Vitter, the same conservative family man who refused to step down or even wear a scarlet letter after he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, justify his latest move, voicing his opposition to a pardon for former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards?
• Doesn’t the fact that LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson could get booed by fans this season after leading the team to an 11-2 record last year make him the “Barack Obama” of college football?
• If character was such an important factor in some LSU fans not wanting LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson to return to the team after charges stemming from an incident at a Baton Rouge bar were reduced, shouldn’t those same fans have gotten out the torches and pitchforks cash loan milton keynes when they learned that former junior college transfer Zack Mettenberger was coming to LSU after getting in trouble at the University of Georgia for allegedly groping several young women while out partying?
• How tacky and classless was it for Atlanta Falcons fans to cheer wildly when Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was injured during a contest earlier this season and had to come out of the game?
• If the footage is authentic, how does CNN mistakenly play a rap song that repeatedly uses the N-word to pay tribute to a 103-year-old Black woman?
• Does anybody really think President Barack Obama is losing any sleep worrying about the possibility of sparring in several debates next year with GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain?
• Why is President Barack Obama uppity for using multiple-syllabic words and having the audacity to earn Ivy League degrees while Herman Cain is a champion of the Tea Party for saying that it’s their own fault that poor people are poor?
• Doesn’t Cain’s contention that it’s poor people’s fault that they are poor sound an awful lot like those who said that New Orleans got what it deserved after Hurricane Katrina?
• Why was it so easy for Amanda Knox to acquire a get-out-of-jail-free card in Italy while the state of Georgia refused to halt the execution of Troy Davis even though most of the witnesses recanted the stories that led to his conviction and death sentence and even a number of white conservatives spoke out on his behalf?
• How many signs did Tea Party supporter and New Orleans resident Tim Reily put up bashing former President George W. Bush when Bush was peddling stories about Weapons of Mass Destruction and running up war bills like there was no tomorrow?
• How ironic is it that the moronic and myopic activities of a Tea Party follower finally white hills cash payday loans number made me give up Luzianne Iced Tea?
• Who else bypassed Luzianne Iced Tea, CDM Coffee and Blue Plate Mayonnaise this past weekend to let Tim Reily know how they really feel about him and his viewpoints?
• Shouldn’t this whole Tim Reily saga make it easier for Black folks to understand and appreciate the importance of supporting Black businesses and contributing financially to the campaigns of conscious, hard-working Black political candidates?
• Is it just my imagination or has WWL radio journalist Garland Robinette been laying a little low since news reports surfaced about an interest-free $250,000 loan he received?
• If Garland Robinette did nothing wrong, why was he in such a hurry to pay off that loan once news reports questioned his ethics?
• How does New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu expect to “Save Our Sons” when he is trying to push so many of our sons and daughters’ parents out of jobs at City Hall in the name of privatizing a wide array of city services?
• When are New Orleanians going to finally get fed up with elected officials who jump from job to job and recycle themselves for decades while doing nothing of lasting significance for residents?
• Why doesn’t Domino Sugar purchase the naming rights to the New Orleans Arena so we can start calling it the “Sugar Shack”?
• Why does it seem like fall and winter in southeast Louisiana lasts a month while summer lasts two years?
• Are you going to vote early or wait until Oct. 22 and run the risk of encountering some last-minute problem that prevents you from casting your votes for a better city and state?
