PR strategist and Louisiana Weekly contributor pens new book

Nayita Wilson, public relations strategist and long-term contributing writer for The Louisiana Weekly, has authored and released a new book, PR That PRopels, which is geared towards empowering visionaries, entrepreneurs, government and community leaders, athletes, as well as nonprofit executives on how to employ public relations (PR) strategies to increase visibility and favorable brand recognition.
Wilson, 35, is owner of NVisions Communications & Consulting, a Louisiana-based public relations and strategic communications firm. She said she wrote PR That PRopels to serve as a resource for those organizations or individuals who have credible products, services or causes, but are struggling to claim recognition and a stake in their respective markets.
“In a lot of instances, PR is the missing link in a brand or campaign’s arsenal towards long-term growth and success,” Wilson said. “Some view PR as a one-time publicity stunt or endeavor. This book shatters that myth by highlighting how PR, when approached strategically, adds value to vision and goals.”
She said she’s witnessed the power of PR in business, with clients and throughout her career.
Prior to founding NVisions, Wilson served as deputy director of public information for the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office where she managed and re-established media relations and led a contractor fraud awareness campaign. She also helped to re-establish communications and fund development initiatives for a historic New Orleans nonprofit following Hurricane Katrina. A graduate of Dillard University, Wilson maintains a working journalism portfolio and has written extensively for various media outlets.
“I’m a firm believer in allowing your gifts to make room for you. Every opportunity I’ve been afforded compliments the other, and has allowed me to help advance or support the vision of another or serve as a conduit of information for the community at large. That’s a part of my God-given purpose,” Wilson said. “So many mentors and leaders have invested in me and continue to advise along this journey. The least I can do is offer my experiences in a way that can impact many, and packaging it in a book was the ideal solution.”
