Above is the before and after snapshot of the former Straight University Boarding House and Dining Hall, buitl between 1866 and 1871, located at 1424 N. Claiborne Avenue. The historic building was restored by the Preservation Resource Center using Historic Tax Credits that are on the chopping block under the proposed GOP tax plan. It was the last remaining building associated with Straight, one of the first African-American universities in the state of Louisiana.
