Xavier readies SuperScholar/EXCEL program

There are still a few spaces left for the summer 2011 SuperScho­lar/EX­CEL program at Xavier Univ­ersity of Louisiana. Rising seniors, (high school students who will be seniors in the fall of 2011) are invited to submit an application for the four-week, residential program designed to strengthen students’ critical thinking, reading, writing, math and oral presentation skills. SuperScholar/EXCEL includes standardized test preparation and other course work, as well as social and cultural enrichment activities.

“This is not just a summer camp, but an intense four weeks for students serious about their academic future. It is also a fun experience as well,” said program assistant Kevin Barnes.

Applications for SuperSchol­ar/EXCEL are available online at http://www.xula.edu/gradstar/SS-EXCEL.php, and a limited number of scholarships are available.
