Xavier Prep celebrates its 96th graduation ceremony

Xavier University Preparatory School held its 96th Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony on May 18, 2012. Sixty-eight graduates from the senior class participated in the commencement service earning $2.1 million dollars in college scholarships.

The valedictorian was Meghan Goldia Blackwell, daughter of Janice Blackwell Thomas and Fred Chambers, Jr. She is the stepdaughter of Kenneth Donneal Thomas, Sr.

A member of the National Honor Society, National Arts Honor Society, the Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Voices of Praise, Flag Team, Volleyball and Baseball Team, the honor student planning on attending Howard University on the Legacy Scholarship which covers tuition and fees.

The salutatorian was Ayanna Shami Banks, daughter of Zivah Bauman and Mickey Banks and the stepdaughter of Robert Bauman. Also a member of the National Honor Society, the XUP Basketball Team and a member of the 2012 XUP State Champion Track Team, she is planning on attending Louisiana State Univ­ersity in Baton Rouge, La.

Also graduating with honors were Nia Christine Foster, Kayla Rayon Quincy, Cherese Arielle Mallet, Taylor J’ena McNeil, Amalachi Toochi Eweni, Kennedy Angelle St. Charles, Aaliyah Brienae Encalade, and Robriane Ellnora Larry.
