Special election endorsement

25th February 2013   ·   0 Comments

With Carnival so recently past, It is easy to forget that there is a special election coming up in the lakefront neighborhoods of Metairie and Kenner. The season is no excuse, however, to miss a chance to exercise that right for which so many before have given their freedom and lives.

Our editorial board does call upon the legislature to enact the Bill in the coming session that would limit elections to five dates per year, so that the confusion of untimely elections might finally cease, especially considering that there will be two more election dates in the New Orleans area in as many months. Still, that is no excuse not to go cast your vote. Please do this Saturday.

DISTRICT 79 STATE REPRESENTATIVE: Jack Rizzuto

When a police officer from his native Kenner was killed in the line of duty, Jack Rizzuto organized the Octavio Gonzalez Memorial Foundation to aid that man’s family. Subsequently, more than $50,000 has gone to the loved-ones of policemen harmed in the course of their service.

It is this kind of dedication to his community that makes Jack Rizzuto the type of civic leader that should be elected to replace Rep. Tony Ligi in Baton Rouge.

Equally, his perspective on serving his community before party interest has convinced our editors that he will both speak for the New Orleans metro area first, and act independently when in the legislature. Please vote Jack Rizzuto on Saturday.
