The Ladies for Purple Scholars Foundation has received a $5,000 contribution from AT&T to support St. Augustine High School students who may be struggling with covering the cost of tuition.
The Ladies for Purple Scholars Foundation is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the culture of St. Augustine and supporting Purple Knights with limited financial resources in order to help those students gain a high school diploma.
Sean Goodwin, interim principal at St. Augustine, said the funds will be used to help support students who are academically thriving but have limited financial resources.
According to AT&T, the funds will be used to cover gaps in tuition costs for up to five students.
Sonia Perez, president of AT&T Louisiana, said the scholarship will help ensure that students “are able to focus on their studies, gain a high school diploma in order to move on to post-secondary education and become one of our many needed qualified employees in the workforce.”
“We believe that St. Augustine High School is the training ground for leadership through academic excellence, moral values, Christian responsibility and reasonable, consistent discipline for young men, and we continue to support the continued development of these values,” Goodwin said.
