Dillard men’s health fair set for Dec. 14

Dillard University will hold a men’s health fair on Saturday, December 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at All Souls’ Episcopal Church and Community Center, 5500 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, La.
The theme for the health fair is “Mind, Body and Soul Health Experience.” The fair is free and open to the public.
The purpose of this health fair is to bring awareness to Black men about the importance of annual medical check-ups to identify potential health risks and the prevention of chronic illnesses. The fair is designed to address the total body and will provide educational information and create discussions on the importance of conducting assessment of family medical history to determine key areas of probable health risk. The event will provide attendees with available resources to assist in making sound health-related decisions. Those who attend the health fair will also be provided with information on mental wellness, fitness,and disease-prevention services which are steps in creating a wholistic approach to Black men’s well-being.
Exhibitors will focus on medical problems affecting Black men, and provide medical units, screenings and the following services: Diabetes testing, Dental screening, blood pressure monitoring, prostate educational information, obesity educational information, mental health outreach services, Health challenge workshops, HIV/AID screening and educational information, Employment opportunities, Tobacco challenges and Affordable health care information.
