High school students and their parents will have an opportunity to “Think HBCU College” at a college fair being sponsored by the Omicron Lambda Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Crescent City Chapter of the Links, Inc. on Saturday, February 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Area High School which is located at 6026 Paris Avenue.
College representatives from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), will be on hand to provide information on the admissions process and requirements while alumni will willingly tell of their personal experiences of what makes it so worth being counted in that number of becoming a HBCU student.
A highlight is a workshop scheduled that will feature local HBCU Presidents: Dr. C. Reynold Verret, Xavier University of Louisiana, Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough, Dillard University, and Dr. Victor Ukpolo, Southern University at New Orleans. Each will speak about the importance of HBCUs and the advantages of attending one.
