Dillard University’s Home-coming Week kicks off on Saturday, November 10, with a slew of exciting activities. A Homecoming Parade will roll through the Gentilly community from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. An Open House for prospective students will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; beginning in the PSB, it will feature campus tours, food and entertainment, and opportunities to meet students and faculty. The annual Pan-Hellenic Probate Show, a Greek step show, will be held that evening at 8 p.m. in Dent Hall.
Dillard will host its annual Founders’ Day convocation on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3:30 p.m. in Lawless Memorial Chapel. Dr. Cheryl Taylor, interim dean of Southern University and A&M College School of Nursing and a Dillard alum from the Class of 1977, will give the keynote address. This year’s convocation will celebrate the seventieth anniversary of Dillard’s School of Nursing, the first accredited nursing program in the state of Louisiana.
On Friday, Nov. 16, Mr. and Miss Dillard 2012-2013 (Jerome Bailey and Johne’tra Trotter) and their royal court will be crowned at the annual Coronation Ball in Dent Hall at 8 p.m.
Homecoming Week will draw to a close on Saturday, Nov. 17, when the Dillard Bleu Devils men’s and women’s basketball teams host a doubleheader in Dent Hall Gymnasium. Those games will be preceded by a tailgate in Kabacoff Plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We hope you’ll join us for Homecoming Week festivities!
