Mount Zion UMC celebrates its 142nd Anniversary this month

The remainder of this month of July will find events being held to celebrate the 142nd Anniv­ersary of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

Pastored by the Rev. Sonya Lars, Mount Zion will commence the celebration with a banquet on Sunday, July 15, 4 p.m., at LACE Banquet Hall. Highlighting that celebration will be a Princess Promenade and the crowning of “Miss Mount Zion.”

On Saturday, July 21, beginning at 9 a.m., a “Lesson on Stewardship” and a “Wellness Breakfast” will be held in the Activities Building of the Church.

And on Sunday, July 22, the culminating activity is the 142nd Anniversary Worship Service, at 9 a.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Melvin Amerson from Texas Methodist Foundation.

Mount Zion is located at 2700 Louisiana Avenue.
