The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has announced an increase in bus service starting January 5, 2014.

The increase comes as part of the recent 2014 budget approval which includes “additional bus services targeted at reducing wait times, increasing later evening access and providing more service in Orleans Parish” and “increasing trips on more bus lines on Saturday,” according to a press release sent out by the RTA.

“The service changes,” the statement went on to say, “are an investment in more bus service in Orleans Parish by the RTA Board of Commissioners.”

RTA will also be hosting a series of community workshops and a public hearing to review additional investments in new bus services in 2014. The dates of the workshops and the public hearing have not yet been made available.

New timetables will be available on buses and streetcars and at public libraries.

For bus lines and streetcar lines with no changes, timetables from August 25, 2013 are still valid. Pick up a new timetable for any of the lines described above that have changes.

For detailed information about the service enhancements visit www.norta.com or call 504-248-5900.
