(lailluminator.com) — An information technology company has picked New Orleans for its newest hub location and plans to hire 150 new employees over the next five years, according to Gov. John Bel Edwards’ administration.

Excella, a 20-year-old company based in Arlington, Virginia, specializes in artificial intelligence and modernizing IT systems, according to Louisiana Economic Development (LED). Its New Orleans hub will expand the company’s software development team for government and business clients.

Excella will have an office in The Shop, a co-working space in downtown New Orleans. The company is described in a news release as a “remote-flexible firm,” and it wasn’t immediately clear how many employees would be based in the city.

The 150 new hires will generate an annual payroll of $21 million, an LED news release said. State officials have offered Excella an incentive package that includes a $2.7 million Digital Interactive Media and Software Development Incentive tax credit.
