Xavier celebrates its 95th Anniversary graduation

Such was the case when Xavier Univ­­er­sity Preparatory School held its 95th Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Cere­mony last month at Holy Name of Jesus Church. It was, however, a first for Xavier Prep.

The Class of 2011, 50 in number, with a total of $3.2 million in scholarships awarded, has as its valedictorians Misses Megan and Melissa Riley, daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Michael and Deidre Riley.

Both Megan and Melissa were members of the payday loans native american National Honor Society, Key Club, the XUP Softball Team, XUP Diversity Club, and XUP Art Club. Melissa received top honors for excellence in English, Religion, and Science. Megan received top honors for excellence in English, Mathematics and Social Studies. Miss Kyrianté Henry, daughter of Mrs. Kione Duncan & Mr. Louis Henry, and granddaughter of Mrs. Nell Duncan, is the class salutatorian. President of the Student Council and Key Club, she was also a member of the National Honor Society, XUP Ambassadors, Diversity Club, and Captain of the XUP Letter Carrier. She received scholarships from Xavier University, Loyola University, Dillard University, Spring Hill College, Christian Brothers University, Winston Salem University, St. Edward’s University, Baylor Univ­er­sity, Paul Quinn College, St. John’s University, St. Mary’s University, Tuskegee University, The Catho­lic University of Am­er­i­ca, University of Dallas, Stillman College and personal loan qualifying George­town University.
